Ahead of the big match on Sunday we thought it would be fun to look back at the last time Preston came to Lakeside.
South and Preston’s last two games have attracted plenty of attention but both have been at Preston’s home ground. Prior to those games South hosted Preston at Lakeside back in 2013 for a state knockout cup match (thank god for the return of the Dockerty Cup concept!)
In fact, that game was so long ago, it was a time when I was drawing up comics for Paul’s blog! See the initial reaction to the fixture below!

Unlike the recent games that attracted huge crowds, the 2013 match saw a lead up which was more nervous, the Herald Sun published an article ahead of the game and Nine News stationed a car at the game in case any issues came up… some things never change!
Only members were allowed to purchase tickets and for Preston fans this meant they could only access tickets on certain days.
The off-field part of the game ended by being trouble free, to Channel Nine’s disappointment I’m sure! The onfield story was far more interesting. Check out Paul’s review here:

South won 4-2 in a game that marked Chris Taylor’s first win with South (crazy!) and a team list including Trent Rixon!
What will the game on Sunday bring? Hopefully a similar result in favour of South!
