Are you serious?

Four wins in eight days? For real!?

When I’m wrong I’m wrong, and boy was I wrong this time. Despite an insane schedule featuring an additional catch up game, South has managed to win four games in eight days.

We beat South Island convincingly 4-1, then we admittedly got lucky against Altona thanks to a red card and some Bonada magic. We returned to the OPL with a 5-0 thrashing of our nearest competitor the Solomon Kings, and then we managed a 1-0 win against Bentleigh thanks to a remarkable keeper stuff up.

Regardless of how we did it, these results aren’t just good – they are the best-case scenario. The player rotation has seen us compete with effectively full squads in each game and with the exception of Mikkola (out for three weeks reportedly) we have avoided any major injuries.

Remember this time last year? We were in one competition, had just lost to Preston and faced not just a relegation battle but potentially the need to play our third keeper in games, with only half a squad in front of him. Moller was leading(?) the line for goodness sake!

Anyway, it’s been a great period of results. Well done to the team so far. What next? Bottom of the table Green Gully – and then a shorter trip to the Solomon Islands.

Let’s go South!
