Ahead of the Semi-Final South had just been eliminated from the NPL Victoria Finals. Lions FC on the other hand had just been crowned Champions of the NPL Queensland.

5,268 fans packed out Lakeside Stadium to support South, however once again they were disappointed to see the away team take the lead.

Although Hart-Phillips scored for Lions at the 23^rd minute it was very much South who controlled the play, despite starting the game without a natural striker.

This required a tactical shift from Sinisa Cohadzic, and once again, South’s coach demonstrated his tactical genius by subbing on Bul Juach who would go onto change the game.

Juach scored at the 53^rd, 60^th and 83^rd minute in a utterly dominant personal performance. The hat-trick saw South win the game 3-1 and qualify for the Australia Cup Final for the first time in its history.
